Scar Treatment and Keloid Removal

At Skin55 we have extensive experience in treating all types of scars, caused by surgery , acne, roads accidents, trauma, bites, burns etc. They can appear pigmented with a darkened surface, red, pale, or a combination of colours. The skin texture can also change, becoming indented, thickened, elevated or a mixture of textures even within the same area. We are committed to making you feel as comfortable as possible and providing a professional assessment of what can be done.

At the initial consultation with your dermatologist or surgeon, we will assess the area, the type of injury, how it is affecting you mentally and physically and suggest a realistic plan of treatment.

Treatment often involves good quality skin care, silicone creams, sometimes injections of medications like steroids, sometimes treatment with lasers.

Dr Saqib Bashir and Miss Kathleen Fan provide a bespoke treatment and revision service for facial and non facial injuries.  Having undertaken the work on the NHS at King's for 13 years, they are experienced in correction of the effects of surgery, , trauma, road traffic injuries, pigmentation and others.  They are also experienced in dealing with complications of cosmetic treatments.  The clinic has a sensitive and caring approach to meeting the patient's needs.

Methods used to treat scars

State of the art technologies such as the Erbium:Glass (Cynosure Icon), CO2 (Cynosure Smart Skin), and Pulsed Dye lasers are excellent in this field. We often combine these advanced treatments with simpler treatments such as steroid injections or patches, or silicone gel treatments. Each individual will have a tailored treatment programme.

Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation treatment

Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation readily responds to treatments with pigment specific lasers such as the Q-switched Nd:YAG.  At Skin55 we use the Cynosure Revlite which is one of the best systems available.  Your dermatologist will advise which treatments will be most suitable for you and if any other tests or investigations are required.
